Take a Look at Laly’s Process:
Laly started making art about 8 years ago and what really got her started was discovering mixed media art. She felt like all of a sudden she was given permission to not love just one thing, but as many as she liked! For Laly it was freeing to realize that she didn't have to commit to just one art practice, nor had to learn "traditional" art, but that she could instead explore and experiment with anything that attracted her, anything that felt good and exciting, and follow the light of her own inner artist!
Laly gathers elements from nature all the time: twigs, pebbles, feathers, seeds... she spots them on her walks and then display them around the studio with all their beautiful textures and colors. They remind Laly of her precious connection to the natural world and constantly inspire her paintings. Then the next step is to actually incorporate these treasures INTO her art.

A FEW FUN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LALY MILLE:

December is one of Laly’s favorite times of the year! She loves the feeling of wonder when you know that something really special is on its way. And she loves it when that « Christmas feel » shows up at other times of the year!

Laly is not a dog person, but she has 1, 2, 3, 4… 5 kitties! Laly says that a cat purring on your lap is just one of the most relaxing things ever… but a cat set loose in the studio is not!

Laly is a good mix between messy and control freak: sometimes you’d think a hurricane has blown through her studio, yet upon closer inspection, you’d realize that papers are sorted into categories and supplies are organized by medium, then by color within each medium… it’s « supposed » to help her tidy up the mess…

The movie that never fails to cheer her up is… Legally Blond with Reese Witherspoon! Just the opening song is enough to give her a boost.

Her family is a family of book lovers and Laly and her husband still read bedtime stories to their children every night. They are 9 and 12 and the stories just get more and more interesting!
YOUR TURN: USE NATURE TO INSPIRE YOU
Take a walk in the nearest quiet park or wooded area and search for what fills you with wonder and joy. These little things are the sparks to light your soul.
Now it’s time to create texture and translucency, contrast, light and shadow, white-on-white effects, and layers of color... Explore it all, from your surroundings to the canvas and above all from what lives in your soul.
